"Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a nice note. Your fabrics are so wonderful that I know you want to offer them to their best advantage. I've told LOTS of people about the site! Good Luck and Mahalo"

Curtain Calculator

To determine how much fabric is required to cover a window, measure the window to be covered, and follow this step-by-step Curtain Calculator.

Curtains are really easy to make, and can save you a lot of money. Don't settle for only the cheap curtains you can find at the local big-box store. When you sew them yourself, you can get a better quality fabric and one you really like. Don't settle - make your own.

Curtain Formula

(Desired curtain height plus 16 inches) multiplied by (total width of all curtain panels times 3) divided by (the width of the fabric).

Example

For a window 48 inches high, by 30 inches wide, with curtain covering window plus 6 inches on all sides with 45 inch wide fabric:

Desired Height
48 inches plus 6 inches on top, plus 6 inches on bottom, equals desired height equals 60 inches

Total Width
30 inches plus 6 inches each side equals 42 inches equals total width

Formula
((60 in + 16 in)X(42 X 3))/45
= (76 X 126) /45
= 9576/45
= 212.8 inches

Convert Inches to Yards
inches/36 equals yards
= 212.8/36
= 5 yards
