Monthly Project for November, 2001

Hawaiian Thanksgiving Table Runner

Materials Needed

• 1 yard of Hawaiian Panel Print (nap design running lengthwise)
• 1 yard of backing fabric
• 2 yards of 22" wide, fusible fleece
• 5 yards of bias tape (1" dble. fold)
• Thread to match bias
• (4) Buttons
• (4) Tassels

* Prewash all fabrics BEFORE staring project.
* All seams are 5/8" unless otherwise denoted.

Construction

1. Cut fabric lengthwise along fold line, producing (2) 36"L x 22-1/2"W pieces.
2. With right sides together stitch across 22-1/2" width; press seam open.
3. Repeat above steps for backing.
4. * Choose another Hawaiian print for the backing and make runner reversible!

Layer runner as follows

1. Place backing on table right side down, and iron fleece on top of backing.
2. Place Hawaiian panel on top of fleece right side up.
3. Baste, serge or zigzag around all raw edges.
4. Encase short ends with bias tape, and encase long sides with bias, turning bias under raw ends for clean finish.
5. Use straight or decorative stitch for bias application.
6. Sew (1) button on each of the four corners, and attach a tassel to each button.
