Monthly Project for July, 2001

Decorator Shower Curtain

Materials Needed

• 3 yds. Hawaiian print fabric 45" wide
• thread
• 12 grommets
• 1/8" elastic to fit top and bottom of waste basket

Shower Curtain Instructions

1. Use 1/4" seams.
2. Cut scant 2 yds fabric; from remaining yard+ cut 4 panels 8" X 36-1/2". Stitch 2 panels together widthwise to create a 2 yd. strip; repeat for 2nd set of panels.
3. With right sides together stitch 1 strip to either side of main 2 yds. of fabric; serge/zigzag seams. Also, serge zigzag all curtain edges.
4. Turn 1/4" from bottom and topstitch for hem.
5. Turn 1" from top and topstitch.
6. Space 12 grommets evenly across top.
7. Follow manufacturers directions for application.

Waste Basket Cover (10" tall)

1. Using remaining fabric stitch short edges right sides together.
2. Serge/zigzag seam; serge/zigzag around top and bottom of cover.
3. Turn down 1/4" from top edge; topstitch leaving an opening for elastic insertion; repeat for bottom edge.
4. Insert elastic and topstitch close opening.
5. Turn bag right side out. Turn and pin top edge of bag and lining evenly, utilizing the 1" of fabric on the top of bag. Also pin web straps in place. Topstitch around entire bag, backstitching web straps for extra reinforcement.
