Six-Pocket Tote Bag
Materials Needed
Cut
- Hawaiian print
- 2 pcs 15" x 18" (lining)
- 2 pcs 20" x 18" (pockets)
- Solid fabric
- 2 pcs 15" x 18"
Pockets
- Fold print in half crosswise: pocket should now measure 10 x 18: place pocket on bottom edge of one body piece matching raw edges. Repeat same steps for second pocket. Fold in half and cut web straps.
- Measure and mark 5"-6" form each side of body unit: repeat for second body unit. Pin web inside marking starting at lower left edge looping web over top and continuing down right side. Topstitch web in place starting from bottom edge of unit up to 1" below top. Repeat for second body unit.
Bag Body and Lining
- With right sides together match and pin bag sides and bottom then stitch.
- Repeat steps for lining pieces.
- Turn lining right side out and slip over body unit with the wrong sides together.
- Measure 2" from each corner and mark.
- Stitch across corner to square bag bottom.
Finishing
- Turn bag right side out.
- Turn and pin top edge of bag and lining evenly, utilizing the 1" of fabric on the top of bag.
- Also pin web straps in place.
- Topstitch around entire bag, backstitching web straps for extra reinforcement.
